Presented in Pittsburgh in 2007, this workshop will reprise the essentials of that workshop for first-timers, adding elements not having been presented earlier for our returnees. Cyber Forensics provides a context for the seemingly arcane topics we often instruct. Forensics demands a detailed knowledge covering many aspects of the industry and, in fact, areas outside of our industry such as the Legal arena. Practitioners function in Law Enforcement, as well as the corporate sector having diverse job descriptions such as "compliance officer", "security administrator", "information security and assurance officer", and the like. Students seem to like the challenge of putting their knowledge to work in an almost "Cyber CSI" environment, and soon realize that they must strive to master a broad knowledge and skill set.

Keywords: digital forensics, information assurance, security
