Strategies for combating declining enrollment. It’s clear that many Information Systems/Information Technology (IS/IT) programs are experiencing unprecedented declines in enrollment. Trying to understand its cause is one part of the equation, creatively addressing the decline is another. While the reality is that the job market in IS/IT is strong and will prove to be stronger in the coming years, it is clear that students are choosing majors in other fields. This panel will explore these issues with an eye to examine strategies to turn the decline around. The format of the panel will allow for a group discussion. Strategies and cases studies will be discussed including: a) high school and community college outreach, b) improved communication (web, marketing), c) revising the curriculum, d) accreditation, e) process (targeted task forces) and f) structural change.
