Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) continues to achieve business benefits for industry. Business managers are challenged however in the frequent hype of technology firms marketing SOA as a technical proposition, not as a business proposition. Instructors in information systems might be helpful to managers in industry by further integrating business process innovation (BPI) into a new SOA curriculum that educates students on SOA as a business proposition. This workshop will help instructors educate students to be better business technologists knowledgeable in BPI and SOA. The presenters will discuss a curriculum design of modules that can be customized to disciplines in industry and linked to IS curriculum models. The methodology of educating students will be presented in a leading edge Second Life gaming simulation tool that together with the new curriculum design will help instructors to be current with processes of industry that matter today.

Keywords: business process innovation, service-oriented architecture, curriculum design, gaming technology
