As President of EDSIG it is a pleasure to welcome you to San Antonio where "The Future of IT Education is Hot & Spicy." This year we are together with AITP students and professional members making this a very special event. ISECON has been an annual event since 1982 and is viewed as the most important information systems education conference. We are here as information systems educators to share our ideas and experiences so that we can continue to improve the educational experience of our students. What an exciting time to be in this dynamic field where change is the only constant.
EDSIG, the special interest group for IS education of the AITP is proud to manage this conference for the Education Foundation. Our organization is always looking for new ways to help the profession. Be sure to attend our annual meeting on Saturday night. Our organization runs on the power of our volunteers and we need you.
The large number of papers, workshops and panels provide a rich environment from which to choose. The plenary sessions will also provide an opportunity to help keep abreast of the most recent trends in our profession. Vendors will review their newest technology and publications. Perhaps the most important part of ISECON is the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from across the country. I know that over the years I have brought back many valuable ideas to our program and students.
San Antonio is an exciting and dynamic city of diverse cultures. It is a suitable host for this important event. Take the opportunity to walk along the river and visit historic sites like the Alamo. Whether you are at the conference for one day or the entire event I hope you have a worthwhile experience and will join us next year in San Diego.
