This paper reports on a study of the Information Systems Analyst National Assessment Exam results from students in the Computer Information Systems Department at Metropolitan State College of Denver. It investigated the relationship between success and individual student characteristics such as academic success, work experience, age and other characteristics. The study is prompted by the incongruent scores from students in the same course of study. The purpose of the study is to attempt to determine the characteristics for success on this exam and to use the results to improve the curriculum and advising to allow students to experience greater success on this exam. This paper concludes that academic performance, native language, age, and the state of the test taker at the time of the test are important characteristics for success.
