Abstract
This study examines the risks and opportunities arising from the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education. The research seeks to address the differences and similarities in AI regulation frameworks and policies, and how they can be tailored and adapted. Findings are expected to identify the effectiveness and coverage of various regulatory areas, including academic integrity, student privacy and data protection, faculty and administrative use of AI, bias and fairness, human oversight and accountability, and accessibility and inclusion. Building on the findings of this study, we present our recommendations to further the effective development of AI regulation in higher education, assist future researchers in utilizing AI governance frameworks, and improve trust in AI within higher education.
